Every high school or college student will eventually have to write a paper. This software is specifically designed for research, essay and creative writing assistance; it leads writers step–by–step through the paper writing process. The program is divided in four sections, which help with style, grammar, organization and citation.

The first section is called the Book Doctor Wizard, which has three subsections, the ghost reviewer, manuscript repair and character wizard. The ghost reviewer edits grammar, the manuscript repairer looks for formatting problems and the character wizard helps with character development and consistency.

The second major section is the Ghost Wizard. The Ghost Wizard looks for things like weak modifiers, clichés, misused words and wordy phrases. The wizard can be set to look for specific things based on your preferences or you can choose to ignore criticism.

The third section is the Paper Wizard, which helps with style. With this section you can create MLA, APA, Turabian or Chicago style term papers, thesis, dissertations or APA journal articles. This section also helps with creating appendices, forewords, tables and assists with research by providing a quick link to Google Scholar and other resources and databases.

The last section is the Citation Wizard, which helps you cite sources correctly. With this tool you select either MLA or APA style, and then simply enter the required information into a generator and it automatically generates the citations in the selected format.

Wizards 4 Students has an extensive built in help system and easy to understand instructions. We found this program extremely useful, but outdated, for example this software will work with OS’s as old as Windows 98 and Word 97. However, if you are trying to write your papers on an old system, this will work for you, unlike many of the newer programs, which have more advanced system requirements. This program is not Mac compatible.

If you are a student and need help organizing and writing a paper this is a helpful program; however, if you have a newer computer Microsoft Student costs on a bit more but offers writing tools and much more.
