ClearEdits is a useful editing program, which can quickly and easily find conventional mistakes and provides informative editorial comments. This program effortlessly weeds out overused and unnecessary words, finds common errors like redundancy and weak verbs and provides relevant and instructive feedback.
However, in terms of help you are on your own, this program provides little online or inter–program help documentation and does not provide a user manual.
ClearEdits offers numerous categories of edits, enabling users to tailor the software to perform custom edits. With My Edits you can run edits based on your personal or corporate style requirements.
After ClearEdits analyzes a document, it summarizes your performance in the five Core Edit categories, which includes unnecessary, dubious or overweight words, weak verbs and “..ion” words (such as deindustrialization or complementation). The analysis marks words and sections as “looks fine”, “deserves a second look” or “needs work.” You can easily save your ClearScores to track your progress with a particular document.
ClearEdits evaluates grammar and word choice in context of the sentence, which means it considers the general meaning or intention of the sentence, so it provides applicable feedback instead of generalizations. Additionally, ClearEdits provides several alternative corrections so that you can pick the correction that fits your intent and preferences.
ClearEdits utilizes the dictionary and thesaurus provided in Microsoft Word. It lacks a grammar guide, so you cannot easily look up a specific grammar rule or style information.
ClearEdits provides a variety of business correspondence templates to help the business writer. With these templates writers can easily create effective business letters or emails. This software can also suggest active, powerful word choices to enrich text and offers grammar tips.
This software is compatible with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
ClearEdits is a useful tool for casual or undergraduate scholarly writing as well as business correspondence.
Although ClearEdits responds promptly to emails and phone calls, they do not have a FAQ section, online information or a user’s guide.
In addition, ClearEdits does not offer a free trial, video or tutorial, so you cannot evaluate the product before purchase.
ClearEdits editing tools and feedback ranks high, but they only offer limited support and the program lacks a grammar guide.
